You Might As Well Jump

I remember playing the Van Halen song “Jump” in my head while I was shooting this. Part of the song’s lyrics are “Might as well jump. Jump!”. Anytime someone in the bridal party mentions anything about jumping, I’m game. The results are always funny. It does take timing, but I’ve done enough of these that I have the timing down pretty good. I can nail it on the first shot, as long as my subjects are jumping at the same time – and that takes a few attempts.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse

I took this back in 2008. I remember standing there trying to figure out what angle would look good on camera. The clouds helped me frame the photo, and you see the result. It would have been better with a model, or a bride and groom. Nowadays, since I shoot mostly weddings, it is hard not to imagine a couple in every landscape shot.
