Shooting the latest band

As I was telling the groom and his friends to look out over my shoulder, I had the feeling I was shooting an up-and-coming country band.

Los Coyotes Country Club Wedding

The sun was going down, and we were on the golf course. The bride wanted something special in the middle on the green. I took my small lightstand with one strobe on it, and placed it strategically behind the couple. I had done this many times in the past, so I knew what I was going to get. When I pulled the trigger, and showed the bride, her eyes lit up.

Oceanside Beach Wedding

Shooting at sunset on the beach is one of my favorite situations to shoot in. You really cant go wrong. I normally combine natural and off camera lighting, and shoot many different poses. In this series, I asked the bride and groom to run from the water to the camera several times. This frame was my favorite. This shot really shows the couple’s personality, and I love it.

Wayfarers Chapel Wedding

Wayfarers Chapel wedding. I shot this at 9pm in the evening. The exposure was almost 2 seconds. I had the couple freeze during the exposure, and used a low power strobe to help make them pop. To the naked eye it was pitch black, I couldn’t see very much at all. I had to use a flashlight to focus before taking the shot. I had no idea that the clouds and stars were there before I took the shot. I was pleasantly surprised with the resulting image. Very minor adjustments were made in Photoshop.

First Look No Look

This was a fun wedding to shoot at Wedgewood Indian Hills. Both the bride, and groom helped create a bunch of fun photos. Here is one where neither the bride or groom wanted to see each other, but they still wanted a “first look” photo. We solved the problem by allowing them to hold hands around a corner with the entire bridal party looking on. The shot took an extremely wide lens to get what I needed, but of course I got it done.
